Three performances from our album launch party, the Living Ecosystem in action, Fringe By The Sea, super limited T-Shirts
This time last month, we celebrated the release of our Plants Can Dance compilation album in East London. Thanks to everyone who made it, despite not having the physical record ready (I managed to miss 2 UPS deliveries that week!) it was a massive success.
I’m pleased to say the record did eventually arrive and we now have under 100 copies left. If you’d like to own what we believe is the first-ever collection of ‘bio-phillic music’, please head to our Bandcamp. It’s a beautiful package that includes a ‘zine with artist reflections, insights and discussion points that our quest to explore the intersection of nature and music brings up.

While listening to these “acoustic ecologies”, as D’Souza calls them, and reading the accompanying notes, a rare kind of calm descends upon the listener. This is achieved through a combination of soft-voiced euphoria, thought-provoking musical phrases and the guests complementing each other. By challenging how we experience music, D’Souza and his collaborators have overseen the germination of something really rather special.

Three Living Ecosystem Concerts
During our launch party, we debuted Lamine’s ‘Living Ecosystem’ terrariums - for the first time moving them from his Repot plant shop to the venue and connecting to them with our modular synth systems.
Here are the three performances from the event by Lamine, our co-collaborator Pierre Paslier and myself, which are now available on YouTube. You can hear we all create difference soundscapes with similar data - Pierre’s is more drone focussed, Lamine’s includes some beats and mine is more ethereal.
We also heard a beautiful selection of music from DJ Mari Kimura and talk by EarthPercent’s Anna Pickles.
Plants Can Dance Stage at Fringe By The Sea
We’ll be taking the Living Ecosystems to a ten-day residency at The Fringe By The Sea Festival in North Berwick, Scotland betweem 31st-10th August.
There will be a dedicated Plants Can Dance stage and we’ll be hosting three biosonification and terrarium building workshops per day, in amongst various performances. We’ll have various devices to play with including the Pocket Scion, and we’ll demonstrate how you can make your own plant music.
We’re designing an interactive watering system that audience members can play with to adjust the sound and light in the ecosystem and will be working with Instruo modular to create a custom LED lighting rig that will bring a super cool lighting element.
The workshops are limited to 12 people and are £7 or £5 for kids
For those in town - The Auntie Flo live band will also be performing on the 2nd of August. We’re bringing Andrew Ashong as guest vocalist alongside a very special guest, who will be announced on the night.
