Green City has been five years in the making. It started life as a field recording in Nairobi back in 2019, going through numerous studio sessions with a host of incredible musicians - the likes of Kokoroko’s Yohan Kebede, Golden Teacher’s Laurie Pitt, Guitarist Ziggy Funk, Joe Howe (ex Ben Butler & Mousepad) - all collaborating across multiple sessions in London and Glasgow before travelling back to Kenya last year to record the beautiful vocals of Ambassa Mandela. I took it all back into the studio this year and created the two versions that I am very happy to present to you now.

I’m super proud of how it all came together and hope it brings you as much joy as it brings to me. I was definitely inspired by Fela Kuti with the extended version - letting the groove run for as long as possible until the vocal drops. And letting all the amazing musicians I collaborated with have their time to shine.
